William S. Allessio

William S. Allessio, 95, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown Apartments, died yesterday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 26, 1911, son of Michael and Delfina Allessio Allessio, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Allessio lived in Richmond for 42 years, moving back to Pittsfield in 1995.

He was employed by General Electric Co. for 31 years and retired from the sheet metal department of the former power transformer department in 1973.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of it Holy Name Society.

He also belonged to the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' Clubs, was a former member of Dalton No. 23 Grange and a former member of the Massachusetts State Guards, where he was a former commander. He enjoyed fishing and cabinet making.

His first wife, the former Mary Eileen Farrell, whom he married April 15, 1944, died March 19, 1959.

He leaves his wife, the former Catherine T. Bonacquisti, whom he married Oct. 1, 1966.

He also leaves a brother, Michael J. Allessio of Pittsfield and a sister, Anna Carnevale of South Hadley.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for William S. Allessio, who died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Caramel Church in care of the funeral home.

Other survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Ferdinand, Eugene, Henry, John and Mario Allessio, and five sisters, Dimero Marchisio, Josephine Testa, Norma Balardini, Emma Principe and Sister Mary Camilla Allessio.
