William W. Hibbler Sr.

William W. Hibbler Sr., 58, of 167 Daniels Ave., died at home Monday.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., on June 1, 1948, son of the late William Waites and Virginia Hibbler, he was raised by his aunt, Emma Hibbler of Birmingham, and was a graduate of schools there.
He moved to Pittsfield in 1971.
Mr. Hibbler served in the Army for four years during peacetime.
He was a certified nursing assistant in area nursing homes. Before that, he was employed by Mead Paper Co.
Mr. Hibbler was a member of the Second Congregational Church, and was a golfer and civil rights activist.
He and his wife, the former Blondean Bell, were married June 21, 1981.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Danielle Hibbler of Pittsfield and Virginia Young of Birmingham; a son, William Hibbler Jr. of Birmingham; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for William Hibbler Sr., who died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, will be tomorrow at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Willard Durant at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, 369 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
