James P. Kennedy Sr.

James P. Kennedy Sr., 86, of 35 Catherine St., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 14, 1920, son of Robert V. and Katherine T. Maloney Kennedy, he was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
He was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield.
He was worked for General Electric Co. in the power transformer department, retiring in 1984 after 37 years of service.
He served in the Army in the European theater during World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs.
He was a frequent caller to the former Dan Valenti Radio Show, known as "DH."
His wife, the former Aileen E. Murphy, whom he married Feb. 8, 1947, died March 22, 1999.
He leaves a son, James P. Kennedy Jr. of Rome, Ga.; three brothers, Edward C. Kennedy of Lenox and Naples, Fla., Lawrence Kennedy of Pittsfield and John Kennedy of Lincoln.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for James P. Kennedy Sr., who died Sunday, March 4, 2007, will be Friday at 10 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's Church in care of the funeral home. Mr. Kennedy also leaves his caregivers Gail and David Clement and Christopher and Margaret Amato, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert Kennedy.
