Helen J. Ragan

Helen J. Ragan, 75, of 107 Somerset Ave., died at home on Monday.
Born in Adams on August 16, 1931, daughter of Joseph and Julia Struzik Morawiec, both of Poland, she was educated in Adams schools.
She was an executive assistant in the ordinance division at General Electric Co., where she worked for 22 years.
After retirement, she earned an associate's degree at Berkshire Community College, receiving high honors for academic excellence.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield. She enjoyed nature and cooking, and was a talented artist.
She leaves her husband, William K. Ragan, whom she married on May 23, 1964.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Ragan leaves a son, Christopher C. Ragan, of New York City; two daughters, Paula M. Ragan-Steffen of Jamaica Plains and Teresa Ragan Fortescue of San Francisco; two sisters, Cecilia Ingrassia of Garden City, N.Y., and Frances Ordyna of Adams; and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Helen J. Morawiecz Ragan, who died Monday, March 19, 2007, will be held on Friday, March 23, at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, with Father Christopher Malatesta officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Ragan's memory to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or The American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Ragan also leaves a granddaughter, Anna Steffen, and two sons-in-law, Martin Steffen and Christopher Fortescue. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, known as "the best cook ever."
