Dorothy Sherman, 81, formerly of John Street in Dalton, died Monday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had been a resident since July 2001.
Born in Pittsfield on July 22, 1925, daughter of Paul R. and Bessie G. Turner Warner, she attended Windsor, Hinsdale and Dalton school systems.
Mrs. Sherman worked at General Electric Co. as an assembler, retiring in August 1985.
She was a member of Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, where she served on the church board and was a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Sherman loved to read.
She and Robert Sherman were married on April 23, 1983. He died May 20, 1991. Her first husband, James Enos, died April 4, 1982.
She leaves three daughters, Linda Crowley of Nassau, N.Y., Sheila Rombeiro of Pittsfield, and Bonnie Preston of Boston; a son, Martin Enos of Pittsfield; a stepson, John Enos of Clarksburg; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Hendricks of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothy Warner Sherman, who died Monday, March 19, 2007, will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Bryan Lamberton, pastor of Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Burial will be private in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be an hour of viewing from noon until the time of the service. Donations in her memory may be made to Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Sherman also leaves three sons-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a granddaughter. She loved to read inspirational stories and Christian literature.
