Lester E. Martin

Lester E. Martin, 92, of 21 Warwick St. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Woronoco on June 4, 1914, son of George and Eugenia Pisette Martin, he moved to Hartford, Conn., as a child and was educated there. In the mid-1920s, after the death of his mother, he moved to Lee to make his home with his grandmother, Mary Saulnie.
Mr. Martin worked at Conservation Corps Camps during the Depression. In 1941, he moved to Pittsfield.
He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.
After the service, he returned to Pittsfield, where he worked in the development department at General Electric Co., retiring in 1969.
He moved to Lenox in 1955, to the state of Florida in 1972 and to Randolph, Vt., in 1994, where he was a member of American Legion Post 9. He returned to Lenox in 2000, then moved to Lee in 2003 and to Pittsfield in 2006.
His wife, the former Mary A. McGinty, whom he married July 19, 1941, died Aug. 10, 2006.
Mr. Martin leaves a son, Paul E. Martin of Irving, Texas; a daughter, Mary Jean Hanson of Washington, D.C.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lester E. Martin, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, will be Wednesday, March 28, at 9:15 a.m. from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial gifts may go to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association or to Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, both in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
