Matthew Frank Mastalerz, 84, of 115 Ridgeway Ave., died Saturday at home.
He was born in Pittsfield on Jan. 28, 1923, son of John and Agatha Szlosek Mastalerz, and graduated from Pittsfield High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Mastalerz was employed by General Electric Co. in the power transformer division for 40 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of American Legion Post 68 and General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening and shared the fruits of his hobbies with friends and family.
He and his wife, the former Cecilia Wojtaszek, were married Oct. 26, 1957, at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Matthew A. Mastalerz of Worcester; two daughters, Mary G. Dolan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cecilia A. Mastalerz of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, Edward Mastalerz of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Matthew F. Mastalerz, who died Saturday, March 31, 2007, will be Tuesday, April 3, at 8 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church celebrated by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Church or HospiceCare in the Berkshires through PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
