Viola Lillian "Peggy" O'Brien, 86, of Providence Care Center in Lenox, formerly of 99 Second St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
She also previously resided at Devonshire Estates in Lenox.
Born in Pittsfield on May 26, 1920, daughter of James H. and Ida Bromback Doyle, she attended St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. O'Brien was a homemaker.
She enjoyed reading and collecting teddy bears.
Her husband, Francis W. O'Brien, whom she married Oct. 17, 1942, died Aug. 26, 1992.
She leaves a son, Michael O'Brien of South Dartmouth; three daughters, Irene F. Collins of Pittsfield, Marybeth O'Brien of Boston and Erin Davis of Mount Laurel, N.J.; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Viola Lillian "Peggy" O'Brien, who died Friday, March 30, 2007, will be Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. O'Brien may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. O'Brien also leaves five grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Kris, Ashley and Lindsay, with whom she enjoyed spending time, and her special cousin, Carol A. Francesconi, who was her dedicated caregiver.
