Morton H. Kaplan, 84, of 54 Zeff Drive died Thursday at home.
Born in Providence, R.I., on April 12, 1922, son of Abraham and Tillie Siegel Kaplan, he was a 1939 graduate of Central High School in Providence.
An Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, he served from December 1942 to March 1946. While in the military, he trained as a dental laboratory technician.
A salesman, Mr. Kaplan was employed by National Business Promotions in Albany, N.Y., for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim, where he was voted "Man of the Year." He also was chairman of its religious school committee for three years.
He and his wife, the former Elaine Kriger, were married May 23, 1945.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Ben J. Kaplan of Pittsfield and John S. Kaplan of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Ellen C. Golden of Philadelphia; a brother, Lloyd Kaplan of Providence, R.I.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Morton H. Kaplan, who died Thursday, April 5, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim by Rabbi Harold Salzmann, rabbi emeritus.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery, Temple Anshe Amunim section. Donations in his memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves his grandchildren, Sarah, Dana, David, Daniel and Emily Kaplan, E. Stuart Golden and Rachel Hovance; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Keith Hovance; and two daughters-in-law, Loré (Ben) and Michelle Kaplan (John).
