Alan C. Butler, 61, of 27 Greenway St., died Friday at home.
Born in Long Branch, N.J., on Feb. 6, 1946, son of Herbert Butler and the late Kathleen Sweeney Butler, he attended local schools until eighth grade, when he moved to Silver Spring, Md. There, he graduated from Sherwood High School, where he was class president.
Continuing his education, he attended the University of Maryland and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University.
He was a self-employed accountant and was co-owner of Berkshire Management Group.
Mr. Butler was a longstanding member of AA and NA and, at one time, was on the board of the SIOGA Club. He enjoyed antique cars, music, art nautilus, photography, the ocean, taking vacations and traveling. He was also a sportsman who loved all sports.
He and his wife, the former Sheila Anderson, were married May 8, 2005.
Besides his wife, and his father, of New Jersey, he leaves a stepson, Sean Dykes, stationed in Georgia in the Army, a stepdaughter, Shilo Meehan of Orange; and a brother, David Butler of Watertown.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alan C. Butler, who died Friday, April 7, 2007, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, conducted by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church.
Burial will be private at a later date. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the SIOGA Club in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves a sister-in-law, Sherri St. John, and her husband, Bruce, of Orange; and a niece, Serena Hause, also of Orange.
