Teresa Maria Carchedi Ciliberti

Teresa Maria Carchedi Ciliberti, 86, of 92 Colt Road, died Monday at her home following a long illness.
Born in Francavilla, Italy, on Sept. 10, 1920, daughter of Vincenzo and Vittoria Costa Carchedi, she moved to the United States and to Pittsfield in 1931 and attended Pittsfield schools.
She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1940.
Mrs. Ciliberti was the owner of the Italian Importing Co. on Fenn Street in Pittsfield for 25 years, and then relocated to North Street for 17 years. She retired in 1992.
She enjoyed cooking, needlework, nature, bird watching, animals, concerts at Tanglewood and the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. During her retirement, she volunteered at Redfield House and the Salvation Army.
She and Battista "Jim" Ciliberti were married on May 4, 1946. He died on May 11, 1994.
She leaves one son, John M. Ciliberti of Peru; three daughters, JoAnne V. Soules, Linda M. Ciliberti and Teresa M. Ciliberti, all of Pittsfield; and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Teresa Maria Carchedi Ciliberti, who died on Monday, April 9, 2007, will take place on Friday, April 13 at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Charles' Church, the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Ciliberti leaves four grandchildren, Amy Soules, John Soules, Sarah Ciliberti, and Jessie Ciliberti; a son-in-law, Harry F. Soules Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Bates Ciliberti.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Nicola and Joseph Carchedi; and by a sister, Caterina Pizzonia. Teresa was a loving mother and grandmother, and will missed by all who loved her.
