Marion Selma Hinkley, 79, of 36 Kirkwood Drive, died yesterday at Sweet Brook care center in Williamstown, where she had resided for the past two weeks.
Born in Pittsfield on April 16, 1927, daughter of William J. and Selma Fugman Carey, she was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Hinkley had at one time been an assistant manager for Northeastern Law Press.
She was a one-time communicant of St. Mark Church and enjoyed sewing, crafts and horses. In her earlier years, she enjoyed making cakes.
Her husband, Harold F. Hinkley, whom she married Sept. 28, 1946, died Sept. 25, 2006.
Mrs. Hinkley leaves a son, Carey L. Hinkley of Stephentown, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marion Selma Hinkley, who died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mark Church, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Hinkley may be made to the Western Mass. Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Hinkley also leaves her four grandchildren, Kevin J. and Karlyn Hinkley of Pittsfield, Michael R. and Maureen Hinkley of Dalton, Melanie M. and Chad Gorton of Lanesborough and Sara B. and John Barrett Hinkley of Stephentown, N.Y.; and four great-grandchildren, Craig, Kelsie and Gabrielle Hinkley and Ryan Gorton.
