Albert Joseph Pezzo

Albert Joseph Pezzo, 82, of 428 Dalton Ave. died Friday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had been a patient since April 4.

Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on May 28, 1924, son of Vito and Josephine Rosino Pezzo, he was educated in schools there and was a 1942 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Mr. Pezzo was an Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in the Philippines.

He was employed by General Electric Co. as an engineer in its naval ordnance systems division for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

From 1967 to 1983, he and his late wife, the former Patricia Jean Kinney, owned and operated Patricia's Antiques at Prentice Place in Becket.

He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He enjoyed making cabinets and also built Shaker reproduction furniture. He also enjoyed photography and gardening.

Mr. Pezzo and his wife were married Aug. 13, 1949. She died Aug. 23, 1984.

He leaves a son, Michael J. Pezzo of Pittsfield; a sister, Gloria Morano of Poughkeepsie; a half-brother, Louis Sassone of the state of Florida; and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Albert Joseph Pezzo, who died Friday, April 13, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor of St. Mary's Church. Those attending are invited to meet inside the cemetery gate at 12:45 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in May.

There will be a memorial tribute over radio station WTBR FM (Taconic High School) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Pezzo may be made to WTBR FM in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pezzo was predeceased by a brother and sister and leaves many nieces and nephews. He was a very generous individual who made videos and cartoon videos to give to children.
