Elaine Kaplan, 82, of 54 Zeff Drive, died Monday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 4, 1924, daughter of Robert M. and Mary Aaronson Kriger, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1941 and received a bachelor's in business from Bryant College in 1944.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Kaplan worked for seven years for Foresight Associates. She also was a substitute teacher at Pittsfield High School and at Berkshire Community College.
She was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim, from which she was confirmed in 1938, a life member of Hadassah, and a member of Women of Reform Judaism and of B'nai B'rith.
She and her husband, Morton Kaplan, were married May 23, 1945. He died April 5.
She leaves two sons, Ben J. Kaplan of Pittsfield and John S. Kaplan of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Ellen C. Golden of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE --The funeral for Elaine Kriger Kaplan, 82, who died Monday, April 23, 2007, will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim by Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader, and Rabbi emeritus Harold Salzmann.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery, Anshe Amunim section. Donations in her memory may be made to the Elaine Kriger Kaplan Memorial Scholarship, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves her grandchildren, Sarah, Dana, David, Daniel and Emily Kaplan, E. Stuart Golden and Rachel Hovance; her great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Kyle Hovance; and her two daughters-in-law, Loré (Ben) and Michelle (John).
She was predeceased by a brother, Earle Kriger.
