Walter P. Fertek

Walter P. Fertek, 85, of 52 Vivian Ave., died Saturday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on March 26, 1922, son of Stanislaw and Mary Glazeski Fertek, he was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific and European African Middle Eastern theaters and received the bronze star.
Mr. Fertek was employed by Frank's Berkshire Marine and the former Yellow Cab Co. as an engine mechanic, retiring in 1982 with many years of service.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
He and his wife, the former Barbara Skowron, were married Aug. 4, 1970.
Besides his wife, he leaves a stepson, William J. Bliss of Bronson, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Fertek of Pittsfield; and a step-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Walter P. Fertek died in Pittsfield on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME in his memory.
