Doris Ruth Russell, 92, formerly of Rose Manor, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
She had resided at Springside of Pittsfield for five months.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 24, 1914, daughter of Joseph A. and Elizabeth Gilbert Halley, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Russell was employed as a weaver by the former Berkshire Woolen Mill, retiring in 1955 with 28 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed walking.
Her husband, George F. Russell, whom she married in November 1933, died Sept. 14, 1988.
She leaves two daughters, Dorean E.M. Russell of Westborough and Terry R. Gaspar of Warwick, R.I.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris Ruth Russell, who died Sunday, April 29, 2007, will be tomorrow at 12:15 p.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by Monsignor Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Russell may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mrs. Russell also leaves two nieces, Diane Luhrmann and Linda Liccardi, and two nephews, Richard and David Halley. She was predeceased by two grandsons, George and Kris Gaspar; by two granddaughters, Dawn Russell Bowman and Tierney R. Gaspar; by two brothers, Walter and Harold Halley; and by two sisters, Mae Farrell and Mildred Holt.
