James T. Powers

James T. Powers, 63, of 131 Elizabeth St., died Tuesday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 14, 1943, son of Francis J. and Nora Mazzer Powers, he attended local schools and was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He also lived, at one time, in Boston and Clearwater, Fla., moving back to Pittsfield in 1990.

Mr. Powers worked in both the antiques and banking industries for many years. In 1999, he opened Another Closet consignment and antiques shop on North Street, which he closed at his retirement in 2003. He dealt art and antiques for 30 years. While in Boston and Florida, he worked in the banking industry. During high school and following graduation he was employed by the former Professional Drug Store on North Street.

He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and enjoyed traveling, cruises, antiques, the arts, and the Pittsfield Fourth of July parade.

He was a Red Sox fan.

He leaves three brothers, Dr. Gerald Powers of Bloomsburg, Pa., his twin, John F. Powers of Pittsfield, and Bernie P. Powers of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private funeral for James T. Powers, who died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, was held on Monday. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kids' Place or Berkshire Humane Society, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield.
He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Nancy, Paula, and Gloria Powers; and eight nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Bob, Shaun, Shane, Kellie, Trisha, Mary and Francis J. Powers III. Two brothers, Francis J. Powers Jr. and Robert F. Powers, are deceased.
