Joseph Waszkierscz

Joseph Waszkierscz, 86, of 28 Brooks Ave., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Fulton, N.Y., on July 22, 1920, son of Michael and Helen Zalenski Bator, he moved to Pittsfield at a young age and was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Air Force in 1960 with 20 years of service.

After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Waszkierscz was employed by Sears in Allendale for many years in small engine repair, retiring in 1980.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the 457th Bomb Group Association.

Mr. Waszkierscz leaves several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Joseph Waszkierscz died Wednesday, May 16, 2007. He was the beloved uncle of Michael Batory, Edward Wauzskiewcz Jr., Betty Jean Adorno, Bonnie Lee Thomas, Sally Easton, Louise Howell, Karen Labier, Jean Jaquins and Carol Bunnell.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, celebrated by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to Holy Family Church or the Dalton VFW, care of the funeral home.
