William J. Cuthbertson

William J. Cuthbertson, 90, formerly of 31 Donna Ave., died Thursday at Craneville Place in Dalton, where he had resided for a month.
Born in Pittsfield on March 15, 1917, son of William and Anna Kenyon Cuthbertson, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and of the General Electric Co. apprentice course.
Mr. Cuthbertson was employed by GE in the power transformer department as manager of drafting design and then as manager of advance materials, retiring in 1982 with 47 years of service. He received five patents and three managerial awards.
He was a member of South Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of Wahconah Country Club and the Elfun Society.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Margaret Burke, whom he married July 18, 1942, died Jan. 6, 2002.
He leaves two sons, John D. Cuthbertson of Chelmsford and Richard W. Cuthbertson of Somersworth, N.H.; a sister, Thelma C. Hershey of Evansville, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William J. Cuthbertson, who died Thursday, May 24, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, by the Rev. Joel Huntington.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to South Congregational Church in care of the funeral home. He also leaves two grandchildren, David and Debra Cuthbertson.
