Richard L. Doak, 69, of 93 Roselyn Drive, died Friday at home.
Born in Newcastle, Wyo., on Nov. 28, 1937, son of Harry and Edna Scott Doak, he graduated from Ohio University in 1960 with a bachelor's in electrical engineering.
Mr. Doak was employed by General Electric Co. as an electrical engineer in the ordnance department, retiring in 1992 with 32 years of service. For the past five years, he had been an adjunct professor in the mathematics laboratory at Berkshire Community College, and, for the past 25 years, had been an active Realtor for Isgood Realty.
He was a member of the board of the Friends of Wild Acres. an active member of the Berkshire County Republican Association and a former member of the Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority.
He enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
He and his wife, the former Jean A. Mickowitz, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary May 23.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Brian T. Doak of West Palm Beach, Fla., and a sister, Norma G. DeSarro of East Liverpool, Ohio.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Richard L. Doak died in Pittsfield on Friday, May 25, 2007. Beloved brother-in-law to Sally Potash, Joseph Mickowitz and Jack DiSarro; uncle to Mary Brown, Gina Tatgenhorst, David Potash, Christopher DiSarro and Jack DiSarro Jr.
The funeral will be celebrated Thursday, May 31, at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Calling hours at DWYER FUNERAL HOME will be tomorrow, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Wild Acres, in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He was predeceased by a stepsister, Nancy Walker.
