John Ernest Davis Sr., 58, of 15 Curtiss Terrace, died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 21, 1949, son of Edward and Mary Thornton Davis, he attended Pittsfield High School.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from December 1967 to September 1969. He was discharged with the rank of corporal.
Mr. Davis was employed as a furnace operator for General Electric Co., where he had worked for 32 years.
At one time, he was a member of the Elks Club.
Mr. Davis leaves his wife, the former Marie L. Sorrell, whom he married Sept. 21, 1970.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Joseph E. Davis of Pittsfield, Jeffrey E. Davis of Media, Pa., and John E. Davis Jr. of Pittsfield; a daughter, Melanie L. Davis of Monrovia, Calif.; five brothers, James, Leo, William and Bobby Davis, all of Pittsfield and Richard Davis of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Nancy Arms of Pittsfield and Kathy Davis of Windsor; and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John Ernest Davis Sr., who died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, will be private and at the convenience of the family. DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis also leaves Allen Laurent and Michael Reynolds, both of Pittsfield, whom he considered to be a very special part of his family.
