Elaine V. Scace

Elaine V. Scace, 81, of 86 Knox Road died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on April 24, 1926, daughter of Sherley and Nellie Schilling Vosburgh, she was educated in Richmond and Pittsfield schools and was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. Scace was a homemaker and, for 20 years, an organist and choir director at Richmond Congregational Church.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, braiding rugs and baking cookies.

She married Raymond R. Scace, on May 1, 1948.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Wayne and Thomas Scace, both of Pittsfield, and Daniel Scace of East Lyme, Conn.; two daughters, Joan Lequin of Savoy and Anne Scace of Pittsfield; four brothers, Sherley Vosburgh of West Stockbridge, Eugene Vosburgh of Dalton, Lloyd Vosburgh of Stamford, Vt., and Donald Vosburgh of Richmond; a sister, Rita Kanz of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elaine V. Scace, who died Thursday, June 7, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 826 Valentine Road, in Pittsfield by the Revs. Russell Moody and Irene Jones.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Donations may be made in her memory to Berkshire Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life: Team Fit for the Fight, both in care of the funeral home.

She also leaves three daughters-in-law, Eileen, Tami and Shari; and a son-in-law, Danny Lequin; 10 grandchildren, Matt, Rachelle, Sonia, Morgan, Maggie, Justin, Mitchell, Andrew, James and Katelyn; and a great-granddaughter, Candace Rose. Two sisters, Bernice Osterhout and Leona Vosburgh, and two brothers, Nelson and Kenneth Vosburgh, are deceased. Mrs. Scace spent her life happily caring for her family.
