Kathleen Broderick, 77, of 33 Hazelwood Terrace, died Tuesday at home after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on April 26, 1930, daughter of Lucien and Loretta Gavin Verchot, she was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Broderick was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her husband, William F. Broderick, whom she married Oct. 8, 1949, at St. Mark's Church, died Jan. 21, 2005.
She leaves two sons, Shaun A. Broderick of Saratoga, N.Y., and Brian L. Broderick of Pittsfield; three daughters, Kathleen M. Broderick, Ellen B. MacDonald and Mary T. Choquette, all of Pittsfield; a brother, John Verchot of the state of Florida; a sister, Marilyn Guiltinan of Camarillo, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren and a fifth on the way.
Another son, Daniel B. Broderick, died April 3, 1993, and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Broderick, died April 14, 2000.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Kathleen M. Broderick, who died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, will be celebrated Saturday, June 23, at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. DWYER FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monastery of the Magnificat of the Mother of God or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home. Following the committal service at St. Joseph's Cemetery, the family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. at the Italian-American Club on Newell Street.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and William Verchot; by a daughter-in-law, Donna Broderick; and, on Sept. 16, 2006, by a grandson, Michael MacDonald. The family wishes to thank Lorraine, her wonderful caregiver.
