Carlo J. Sacchetti

Carlo J. Sacchetti, 86, of 172 Ridgeway Ave., died Friday at Hillcrest Commons.

Born in Pittsfield on May 12, 1921, son of Angelo and Josephine Yannone Sacchetti, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1939, which was the last class that graduated in January.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.

Mr. Sacchetti was employed by General Electric Co. for 421/2 years, working for 25 years in the power transformer department and 171/2 years in the power transformer department's division of manufacturing and engineering. He retired in 1983.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.

He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners' Clubs, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 103 and a member of American Legion Post 68. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

His wife, the former Rose P. Sacco, died Sept. 15, 2002. There were married May 11, 1946.

Mr. Sacchetti leaves two daughters, Carlotta A. Virgilio of Pittsfield and Rosalie A. Boyer of Stratford, Conn.; a brother, Joseph A. Sacchetti of Pittsfield; a sister, Anna H. Tucker of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Another daughter, Regina M. Sacchetti, died Sept. 25, 2005.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Carlo J. Sacchetti, who died Friday, June 29, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum on the ground of St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be private. He was the loving grandfather to Warren Harrison, Damian Harrison, Donald Virgilio, Janelle Virgilio, Joanna Virgilio, Nicole Vinoski and Brion Boyer.

He also leaves 14 great-grandchildren. A brother, Francis Sacchetti, is deceased. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
