Rolland George Berthiaume

Rolland George Berthiaume, 85, formerly of 28 Britton St., died Saturday at North Adams Commons, where he had resided since April.
Born in Turners Falls on Jan. 20, 1922, son of Armand and Eva Dube Berthiaume, he was a 1941 graduate of Turners Falls High School.
He moved to Pittsfield in the early 1950s and to Welaka, Fla., in 1983. He returned to Pittsfield in 2003.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Rhineland campaign and received a number of campaign medals and ribbons.
Mr. Berthiaume was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years as a clerk at the Pittsfield post office, retiring in 1980. Before that, he worked at General Electric Co. for five years.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448 of Pittsfield.
His wife, the former Rita A. Tesoniero, whom he married in September 1955, died Nov. 22, 1972.
He leaves a son, Gerald F. Berthiaume of Pittsfield; a daughter, Theresa A. Berthiaume of Denver; a sister, Ernestine Freeman of Orange Park, Fla.; three grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Roland G. Berthiaume, who died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, bythe Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Aug. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Survivors also include a daughter-in-law, Jane Perlman of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Joshua Berthiaume, Adam L'Hote and Jeremy Pierce; a step-granddaughter, Rachel Hava Appel.
He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Haskell.
