Helen R. Donaldson, 79, of 56 Oswald Ave. died Wednesday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided for the past week.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 27, 1927, daughter of Peter and Mary Yarmey, she was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Donaldson was employed by the former England's department store in the first-floor sportswear department for 27 years. She retired when the store closed in the late 1980s.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and taking trips to Mohegan Sun.
She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her husband, Charles W. Donaldson, whom she married June 7, 1952, died April 17, 2006.
She leaves two sons, Thomas E. Donaldson of Pittsfield and William Donaldson of Azusa, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Kendall of Dalton.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Helen R. Donaldson, 79, who died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, in care of the funeral home. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Lori Donaldson; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Betters; five nephews; and three nieces.
She also enjoyed working in her yard, shopping and watching the Food Network.
