Lillian "Nancy" Moynihan

Lillian "Nancy" Moynihan, 76, of 1024 North St. died Tuesday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Hinsdale on Oct. 17, 1930, daughter of Francis J. and Anna Barry Carroll, she moved to West Springfield as a child and was a 1948 graduate of West Springfield High School.

Mrs. Moynihan was a homemaker. She was employed at one time in the accounting department at the former Hilton Hotel.

She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and enjoyed gardening.

Her husband, Francis J. Moynihan, whom she married Nov. 11, 1955, in Loudonville, N.Y., died in 1985. He was the athletic director and basketball coach at Pittsfield High School for 24 years, and the school gym is named after him.

She leaves a daughter, Kerry R. Moynihan of Hingham; and two sons, Shaun Moynihan of Cornelius, N.C., and Barry Moynihan of West Springfield; a sister, Mary Kirby of Dalton; and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lillian "Nancy" Moynihan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. She was the beloved grandmother to John and Kayla Moynihan, and Patrick and Aidan O'Hearne. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club, in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

She enjoyed following her children through high school and college sports and was very proud of all the lovely flowers around her home.
