Nancy Lichtman

Nancy Lichtman, 73, of 21 Breit Drive died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Weehawken, N.J., on May 26, 1934, daughter of Joseph and Wilma Gans Schoenberg, she was a 1952 graduate of Weehawken High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1956 from Goucher College.
Primarily a homemaker, she worked for a short time in the New York City office of the Social Security Administration.
Mrs. Lichtman was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim and of its choir for 20 years, and a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of Berkshire County, where she helped adults learn to read and prepare for their citizenship exam. She was also a supporter of the Foster Children's Program for many years. She enjoyed mystery novels, canoeing and traveling.
She and her husband, Julian Lichtman, were married 49 years.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, William Lichtman of Harvard and Harry "Tom" Lichtman of Newmarket, N.H., and two grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Nancy Lichtman, who died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, will be conducted Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader of Temple Anshe Amunim.
Private burial services will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the Literacy Volunteers of Berkshire County, in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves her beloved grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel Lichtman.
