Doris E. Reidy, 92, of Grant Street died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on June 21, 1915, daughter of Edward and Jennie Blowe Knight, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Reidy was employed by General Electric Co. as a winder in the power transformer department for more than 30 years. She retired in 1985.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church.
A skilled horseback rider, she was a member of the Pittsfield Polo Club and rode in many shows with her horse, "Roxy." She also was a member of the GE Girls' League, where she played women's basketball.
Her husband, Patrick J. Reidy, whom she married Jan. 23, 1952, died Feb. 9, 2000.
She leaves a daughter, Christine Washburn of Lexington, S.C., and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris E. Reidy, who died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, will be Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's High School, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mrs. Reidy also leaves a son-in-law, James Washburn; two grandchildren, Amanda and Brent; several nieces and nephews; her faithful friend, Alva Londergan; and her loyal neighbors, Mike and Louise Lacy. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Floyd Knight. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
