Dorothy F. Tierney, 69, of 176 Columbus Ave. Berkshiretown Apartments, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 4, 1938, daughter of William J. and Margaret Campion Higgins, she attended local schools.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Tierney worked at the former Sun Printing Co. and at Modern Laundry.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, the Polish Community Club and the Emmet Kelly Jr. Collectors' Society.
She enjoyed collecting clowns, dancing, crocheting and writing poetry. Nine of her poems were published here and in the United Kingdom.
She leaves her companion of more than 30 years, William Wilson, with whom she resided; a son, James J. Tierney of Pittsfield; a daughter, Kathy A. Tierney of Pittsfield; a sister, Mary Hagadorn of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, Wayne A. Tierney, on Sept. 11, 1988, and Thomas P. Tierney, on March 4, 1993; and by a daughter, Sharon Tierney Cooper, on Dec. 31, 1999.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Dorothy F. Tierney, who died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church by the Rev. Hannah Anderson, rector. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today, Aug. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. She also leaves her grandchildren, Heather Tierney, Travis Cooper, Dino Errichetto, Claude and Wayne Tierney, Robert Trzcinka, and Sharon and April Tierney; and her great-grandchildren, Deondray and Abriana Lemay.
