Paul G. Cushman, 88, of Bradenton Beach, Fla., died Aug. 26 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
He moved to Florida from Pittsfield in 1984.
Born in Barre, Vt., on Aug. 29, 1918, son of Charles and Laura Sweet Cushman, he was a graduate of Middlebury College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Cushman was employed as a electrical engineer by General Electric Co. for over 40 years.
He was a member of Seventh Day Baptist Service Church in Bradenton, Fla., and Seventh Day Baptist Church in Berlin, N.Y., where he served as an organist and choir director for many years.
His first wife, Myrtle Cushman, whom he married Aug. 31, 1940, died in 1997.
Mr. Cushman and his wife, the former Marguerite Wellman Matteson, were married in April 2003.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mary Jean Holt of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Laura Mirabal of Derry, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Dr. Judith Wellman of Fulton, N.Y.; four sons, Philip Cushman of Phoenix, Kenneth Cushman of Tampa, Fla., Robert Cushman of Columbus, Ga., and Jon Cushman of Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepsons, Kendall Wellman of Anapolis, Md., and David Wellman of Kenny Lake, Alaska; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Paul G. Cushman, who died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Berlin, N.Y. TOALE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Bradenton, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cushman also leaves his daughters-in-law, Meryl (Philip), Kay (Kenneth), Sylvia (Robert) and Suzanne (Jon) Cushman; son-in-law, William Holt; stepson-in-law, Paul Malo; stepdaughter-in-law, Melinda (Kendall) and Gay (David) Wellman.
