Susan C. Rovins, 56, of 295 Pomeroy Ave. died Wednesday at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Philadelphia on Jan. 14, 1951, daughter of Reuben and Henrietta Cohen Rovins, she graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1968 and from Temple University in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in city planning.
In 1996, she received her master's degree in communication disorders from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Mrs. Rovins was employed as a speech language pathologist at Cheshire Elementary School for nine years, working until Sept. 14. Before that, she was marketing manager at Information Resources on North Street and administrator at Temple Anshe Amunim.
She was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim, where she served on the board of directors, as chairman of the gift shop and as past president of its Sisterhood. She was also a member of the Junior League and a longtime fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, knitting, and gardening.
Mrs. Rovins and her husband, Marc Cellana, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Aug. 15.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Emily Cellana of Brookline, and a sister, Judy Copeland of Wyomissing, Pa.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Susan C. Rovins, 56, who died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim with Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves her nephews and nieces, Richard and Jeremy Copeland, and Alicia, Arlen and Andrew Cellana.
