Helen M. Zaveruka

Helen M. Zaveruka, 86, a former longtime resident of 7 Dexter St., died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
She had resided at Craneville Place in Dalton since May 2004.
Born in Montague City on Dec. 11, 1920, daughter of John and Mary Aptacy Dobosz, she was a 1938 graduate of Turners Falls High School.
Mrs. Zaveruka was employed by General Electric Co. for 19 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1981. Before that, she worked at the former Campus Girl.
She was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Her husband, Peter C. Zaveruka Sr., whom she married July 26, 1941, in Pittsfield, died Feb. 25, 1997.
She leaves a son, Peter C. Zaveruka Jr. of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; a daughter, Kathleen Zatorski of Pittsfield; and two granddaughters.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Helen M. Zaveruka, who died Sept. 29, 2007, will be Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Zaveruka also leaves a son-in-law, Joseph Zatorski of Pittsfield, and two granddaughters, Jeanne and Chrissy Zatorski, both of Pittsfield. She also leaves special people in her life: John Kerwood, Billy Kirpens and Judy Giardina.
The family would like to thank the special nurses and caregivers at Craneville Place: We hope you will be rewarded generously by God for all the love you gave our mother and grandmother. Mrs. Zaveruka was predeceased by a sister and brother, Anna Zimnoski and Walter Dobosz.
