Mary Evelyn Forbes

Mary Evelyn Forbes, 80, of Berkshire Place, 89 South St., died there Friday.

Born in Dorchester on Oct. 3, 1926, daughter of C. Leighton and Vera Vickers Forbes, she was a 1943 graduate of Milton High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from Framingham State College in 1948.

Ms. Forbes was employed as a dietitian for several years at Mattapan State Hospital and at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center for 25 years. She retired in 1988.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church in Albany.

She enjoyed traveling, singing with choral groups and playing the piano.

She leaves a sister, Pauline F. Stevens of Lenox; two brothers, Robert L. Forbes of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Frederick W. Forbes of Randolph.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary Evelyn Forbes, who died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Church in Milton. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at CARTWRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, 419 North Main St., Randolph, MA 02368. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, Berkshire Place or the National Arthritis Foundation, all in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

She also leaves 13 nieces and nephews, and their families. Mary will be greatly missed by her entire family.
