Andrew Scott Wyand

Andrew Scott Wyand, 53, of 53 Westminster St. died Friday following a long illness at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided for the past two weeks.

Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 4, 1954, son of the late Walter S. Wyand Jr. and Corinne Disco Wyand, he was a 1973 graduate of Taconic High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College.

Mr. Wyand was employed as a computer technician by Specialty Minerals in Adams for 31 years, retiring due to poor health in 2006.

He attended St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield and enjoyed computers, fishing and listening to National Public Radio.

He and his wife, the former Charlene M. Guzzy, were married Feb. 20, 1976, in St. Mark's Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael S. Wyand of Pittsfield; and a daughter, Diane M. Wyand of Pittsfield; four sisters, Theresa A. Carter of Chicopee, Mary E. Case and Molly B. Pavon, both of Bradenton, Fla., and Jean M. Pepperman of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Andrew S. Wyand, who died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed at 10 a.m. by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mark's Church.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to The American Cancer Society or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home. Andrew leaves his loving granddaughter, Caitlin Wyand; his sister Theresa's companion, Barbara Burger; two sisters-in-law, Joan Beverly and Donna Moran; four brothers-in-law, Edward B. Case, Mario Pavon, Harry L. Beverly Jr. and Bruce Moran; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Springside of Pittsfield for their tender, loving care and for the compassion they showed Andrew during this very difficult time.
