William F. Daley

William F. Daley, 81, of Cynthia Lane died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Bangor, Maine, on April 7, 1926, son of Jerome F. and Eva Thomas Daley, he graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor in 1944 and from St. Anselm's College, now St. Anselm, in 1950.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in France and Germany from 1944 to 1946.

A Realtor and registered real estate appraiser, Mr. Daley owned and operated the former Daley Agency on Elm Street for many years. He also served as president of the Board of Real Estate of Berkshire County in 1976.

He was a communicant of and eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church and a former longtime communicant of and eucharistic minister at St. Teresa's Church.

Mr. Daley was a former member of the Country Club of Pittsfield, the Berkshire Hills Country Club and the Serra Club. He enjoyed concerts at Tanglewood and playing golf and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

His wife, the former Marilyn Shaughnessy, whom he married June 5, 1954, at Sacred Heart Church, died March 11.

He leaves two daughters, Anne E. Daley of San Francisco and Maureen K. Daley of Boston; four sons, Kevin F. Daley of Darien, Conn., Paul J. Daley of Boston, Mark C. Daley of Hingham and Shaun T. Daley of New York City.; a sister, Margaret Carpenter of Redding, Conn.; and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Mass for William F. Daley, who died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, will be concelebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. William Eckert and the Rev. Michael Sepp, Kevin Daley's brother-in-law. The Rev. Sepp is assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in the Bronx.

There will be no calling hours at DWYER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge or to Sacred Heart Church, both in care of the funeral home. Mr. Daley was predeceased by a sister, Caroline McElwain. He will be lovingly remembered for his integrity, good humor and strong faith.

Mr. and Mrs. Daley celebrated 50 happy and fulfilling years together at a family home Mass in June 2004. His children are grateful to him for demonstrating his love for God and family in the generous way that he lived life.
