Doris F. Hover, 87, of 8 Lucille St., died Monday at home.
Born in Lenox on July 19, 1920, daughter of Frederick G. and Lydia Blake Joyner, she was a 1937 graduate of Lenox High School.
Mrs. Hover was employed by the Pittsfield Public School System in the cafeterias of the former Pontoosuc Elementary School and the former Highland Elementary School, now Capeless Elementary School, retiring in 1984, with 19 years of service. During the 1930s, she was employed by Schweitzer Paper Co. as an assembler and, during World War II, by General Electric Co.
She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church and of the Pilgrim Daughters and enjoyed knitting, sewing, bird-watching and hiking.
She and her husband, Robert B. Hover, were married Nov. 10, 1950, at Canaan (N.Y.) Congregational Parsonage. He died June 3, 2002.
She leaves two daughters, Roberta M. Hover and Theresa A. Hover-Johnson, both of Pittsfield; and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Doris Hover, who died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, will be conducted Thursday at noon at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., by the Rev. Corey Loder. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home.
She also leaves "the light of her life," her grandson, Burton G. Johnson of Pittsfield, and numerous cousins. A sister, Iva Joyner-Cullett, is deceased.
