Frank M. Krol, 94

PITTSFIELD - Frank Melchior Krol, 94, a longtime resident of 71 Wilson St., died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Brzoza Krolewska, Poland, on May 18, 1913, son of Michael and Rozalie Muskus Krol, he was educated in Poland, including the study of theology with the Franciscan Fathers in Lublin. Later, he studied at St. Peter's Seminary in Bearsden, Scotland.

Mr. Krol was employed for more than two decades in the bushing department at General Electric Co., retiring in 1976.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a longtime member and supporter of the Polish Falcons.

Mr. Krol was the Pittsfield correspondent for Dziennik Dla Wszystkich (Polish Everybody's Daily newspaper) from the early 1940s to the mid-1950s, and a contributor to many other Polish and local publications. He also was active in the community.

He enjoyed gardening and reading and could be seen walking throughout many of the north-end neighborhoods. He enjoyed spending time with his large extended family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him deeply.

His wife, the former Frances Agnes Blaszkiewicz, whom he married Sept. 20, 1941, died in 1949.

He leaves three sons, Franklin Krol of Dalton, John Krol Sr. of Pittsfield and Melchior Krol of Boxborough; three daughters, Rosalie Tulkoff of Alexandria, Va., Clementine Brothers of Pittsfield and Dianne Cornell of Stephentown, N.Y., 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.

FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Frank M. Krol will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Polish Falcons Club, in care of Wellington Funeral Home 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
