Beatrice O'Connell, 87, of 49 Unkamet Drive, died Saturday at home.
Born in Adams on June 18, 1920, daughter of Harry and Yvonne Oulette Roy, she was a 1938 graduate of Hartford (Vt.) High School and received an associate degree from Berkshire Community College.
Mrs. O'Connell was employed by the Pittsfield School Department as a secretary at West Side Community School for many years.
She enjoyed playing bridge and golf.
Her husband, Jeremiah O'Connell, whom she married Aug. 16, 1943, died Aug. 3, 2007.
She leaves a son, Robert O'Connell of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Beverly Chamberlain of Dunnellon, Fla.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Beatrice O'Connell, who died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. Bea accepted the many challenges that her disease presented and always maintained her positive attitude, loving manner and inner strength. She was an inspiration to her family and many friends. Bea and her husband were longtime members of Berkshire Hills Country Club. Besides golf, Bea enjoyed weekly bridge games with friends.
She was the loving grandmother of Erin and Jeremy, and beloved great-grandmother to Noah, Margaret, Evelyn and Natalie. She also leaves her son-in-law, Jim Chamberlain, and her daughter-in-law, Marlyn O'Connell.
