Serafina E. Russo, 84, died Saturday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had lived since September 2006.
Born in Spezzano, Albanese, Italy, on April 4, 1923, daughter of Giovanni and Angelina Carboni Dorsa, she attended schools in Italy.
Mrs. Russo was self-employed as an office cleaner for many years, retiring in 1988. Before that, she was employed by the former Pittsfield General Hospital from 1976 to 1979, where she worked in the dietary department.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a former member of the Mount Carmel Church Choir.
She enjoyed music, sewing and reading.
Her husband, Joseph B. Russo, died March 18, 1988. They were married June 2, 1972.
She leaves her caregivers, her nephew, James Russo, and his wife, Lisa Russo, of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Serafina E. Russo, who died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, will be conducted at noon Friday at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Ma. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Mrs. Russo also leave a great-niece, Jessica Russo of Pittsfield; a brother-in-law, Samuel Russo of Pittsfield; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Russo, Celia Bruno and Concetta Stankiewicz, all of Pittsfield; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church, care of the funeral home.
