Carolyn O. Spiewak

Carolyn O. Spiewak, 69, of 193 Elberon Ave., Rose Manor, died Sunday at Providence Care Center, where she had resided for a short time.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 25, 1938, daughter of Karl and Zephirine Bourden Spiewak, she attended local schools, including the former St. Mary's School, and was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Miss Spiewak was employed by the former A.H. Rice Silk Mill as a spinner for 40 years, retiring in 2003. Previously, she worked at the former Fannie Farmer Candies on North Street.
A longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church, she enjoyed family gatherings and dining out.
She leaves her brothers, Donald and Leonard Spiewak, both of Pittsfield, and Peter Spiewak, of Port Orange, Fla.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Carolyn Spiewak, who died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor of St. Mark's Church.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Susan (Donald), Christine (Leonard), and Kathleen (Peter) Spiewak; her nephews and nieces, Brian and his wife, Kristine Spiewak, Christopher, Troy, and Eric Spiewak, Jennifer Hassan and her husband, Hank, and Karen Martin and her husband, Bruce; her great-nieces, Kelsey and Rachel Hassan, Grace and Claire Spiewak, and Marissa Martin; her godchildren, Karen, Jennifer, Troy, and Kelsey; her longtime friend, Betty Marshall; and family relatives, Shirley Strizzi and Kate and Joshua Bradley. Carolyn enjoyed spending her Tuesdays with her family, her niece Jennifer, nephew Hank, great-niece and goddaughter, Kelsey, and great-niece Rachel. Over 500 wonderful Tuesdays were spent watching soccer games, watching ice skating, and enjoying shows such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "24."
