Disolina M. Mariano

Pittsfield - Disolina M. Mariano, 90, of 170 Columbus Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on April 16, 1917, daughter of Guiseppe and Maria Leano Russo, she attended local schools.

Mrs. Mariano was employed by General Electric Co. as a solderer in the power transformer department for 41 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She volunteered at the former Hillcrest Hospital for 25 years and crocheted hats and mittens for Head Start students as well as afghans for veterans.

Her husband, Kenneth Mariano, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947, died Feb. 7, 1973.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Disolina Russo Mariano, who died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, will be Friday at 10 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Mrs. Mariano was predeceased by seven sisters, Isabel Dottavio, Mary Dascani, Angelina Grosso, Rose Shea, and Jennie, Helen and Pauline Russo, and by a brother, James Russo.

She leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. If friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home.
