Pittsfield - Elizabeth Jean Putnam, 80, of 173 Burbank St. died Sunday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since Dec. 24.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 4, 1927, daughter of William and Alice Porter Putnam, she was a graduate of the former LeBaron Hairdressing Academy.
Miss Putnam was employed by the former A.H. Rice Co. as a machinist, retiring in 1985. She also worked as a hairdresser at the former Mayfair Beauty Salon.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and enjoyed genealogy, gardening and reading.
She leaves two brothers, Winthrop E. Putnam of Pittsfield and Donald E. Putnam of Southampton; and a sister, Marjorie Eleanor Putnam of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elizabeth Jean Putnam, who died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary the Morning Star Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Miss Putnam was predeceased by three brothers, William, Charles and Franklin; and three sisters, Alta, Esther and Charlotte.
