Julia K. Berezowskyj, 34

PITTSFIELD - Julia K. Berezowskyj, 34, of 63 April Lane, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, 2008, at home.

Born in New Haven, Conn. on Oct. 3, 1973, daughter of Mary Rywak Berezowskyj and the late Walter Berezowskyj Jr., she was educated in Texas and Lenox schools, and was a 1992 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School. She earned her associate's degree in liberal arts in 1994 from Berkshire Community College and her bachelor's degree in history in 2006 from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Ms. Berezowskyj was employed as a house manager for Sullivan & Associates, caring for special-needs individuals, from 2003 to 2008. Prior to that, she had been employed for two years at Valleyhead School in Lenox.

She was a past member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. She enjoyed her work with children and with mentally challenged individuals. She also enjoyed architecture, art, knitting and embroidery.

She and her husband, Sadia Fofana, were married Nov. 29, 2002, in Pittsfield.

Besides her husband and her mother, both of Pittsfield, Ms. Berezowskyj leaves two brothers, Walter J. Berezowskyj of Pittsfield and David Smith of California; a sister, Lesia M. Berezowskyj of Pittsfield, and a niece, Nadya Marie.

FUNERAL NOTICE - Services for Julia K. Berezowskyj, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, by the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Contributions in memory of Ms. Berezowskyj may be made to Pediatric Development Center in Pittsfield, to continue to Julia's care and concern for children with special needs, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
