PITTSFIELD - June M. Alexander, 71, of 38 Spring St., died on Friday March 14, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center shortly after being admitted.
Born in Pittsfield, Dec. 6, 1936, daughter of Arthur P. and Dorothy M. Hoppe Mendel, she was educated in the local schools and was a 1954 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Alexander was employed for 38 ½ years at the former General Electric Ordnance Division and its successor, Lockheed Martin. She retired as a Purchasing Agent in 1993. She enjoyed playing pitch and was in pitch leagues at the Polish American Club and the Madison Café. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
She and her husband, the late William Alexander I were married April 15, 1960. He died Sept. 29, 2007. She leaves two sons, Brandon Alexander of Pittsfield and Barry Alexander and his wife Robin of Pittsfield, a daughter, Cheryl Green and her husband Monty of South Egremont, a brother, Arthur Mendel of Sammamish, Wash., and three grandchildren, Aden, Paula, and Tammy-Marie Alexander.
She was predeceased by another son, William Alexander II on March 10, 2007.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Josephs Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet inside the cemetery gates at 9:45 a.m. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
