Harold C. Olsen, 91

PITTSFIELD - Harold Clarence Olsen, 91, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 6, 1916, son of Anton B. and Martha M. Olsen, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in the January class of 1934. He apprenticed as a toolmaker at General Electric Co. and attended Perdue University in Lafayette, Ind.
Mr. Olsen retired in 1978 from the GE Ordnance after 40 years of service in supervisory and management positions.
During the 1930s, he played saxophone and clarinet with local dance orchestras, as well as the American Legion Band and the Eagles Band. During the 1950s and '60s, he was scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 24 and also coached minor league baseball. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lenox, Greylock Ski Club, Crescent Lodge of Masonic Order, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, having served as a volunteer for more than 20 years. He enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, golf and bowling.
He and his wife, the former Ruth Pike, would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on May 31.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, William H. Olsen of San Carlos, Calif., Frederic A. Olsen of San Jose, Calif., and A. Carl Olsen of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Olsen of Santa Rosa, Calif.; five grandchildren, Rebecca Olsen of Tracy, Calif., Megan Olsen of Novato, Calif., Susan Wadsworth of Lee, Sandra Hjertquist of Turlock, Calif., and Christopher Olsen of Santa Rosa, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Another son, Neil E. Olsen of Lanesborough, died in January 2005.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Harold Olsen will be conducted from Wellington Funeral Home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, on Saturday, March 22, at 2 by the Rev. Valerie Roberts-Toler of United Methodist Church of Lenox. A calling hour will begin at 1, preceding the service.
Following cremation, burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to United Methodist Church of Lenox, in care of the funeral home.
My Friends call me AL, To the Olsen family I'm sadly to hear so lat about the death of Neil, and your father, Carl and Neil was some of the best friends I've ever had and will alway be remember thereon, I didn't learn about Neil untel 1/12/2013, He was a great person. I'm tying to Locat Carl, if any one can help me with some info thank you very much
