PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Barbara Schwartz, 85, of 5 Alcot Lane died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in North Adams on March 6, 1925, daughter of Charles and Goldie Rubin Lenhoff, she attended North Adams schools and received a nursing degree from Russell Sage College.
Mrs. Schwartz was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in North Adams and a life member of Hadassah.
Her husband, Louis Schwartz, whom she married on Sept. 7, 1947, died on Sept. 25, 1996.
She leaves four daughters, Iris Poppel and her husband, Ira, of Wilmington, N.C., Sari Weber and her husband, Peter, of Smithtown, N.Y., Joan Lipman and her husband, Harvy, of New Jersey, and Eva Horton and her husband, Jeffrey, of Adams; a brother, Howard Lenhoff and his wife, Sylvia, of Mississippi; six grandchildren, Lara Poppel, Seth Weber, Alyssa Williams and her husband, Grant, Melissa Lipman, Joshua Lipman and Jessica Horton; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Williams, and a niece and nephew, Gloria Lenhoff and Vernie Lenhoff.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Schwartz will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, at 10 in Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
