Pittsfield Figure Skating Club Show Returns to Full Force

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — As the fourth anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic nears, one of its first casualties is celebrating a return to normality.   The Pittsfield Figure Skating Club will hold its annual skating exhibition, titled "Skating Up a Storm," on Saturday, March 16, at 1 and 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.   It is not the first time the club has held a show since the pandemic, but it is the first time the show and club are approaching the strength they had in mid-March 2020.   "In 2020, we were supposed to have our show on Saturday, and they closed us down on Thursday," coach Tracy Fancher recalled recently. Gittens Records Double-Double in MCLA's Season Finale

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Aaron Nkrumah scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Thursday to lead the Worcester State men's basketball team to a 76-52 win over MCLA in the MASCAC tournament.   Taconic High graduate and MCLA senior Quentin Gittens had 23 points, 13 rebounds and four assists -- all game highs -- in his final collegiate outing.   The Trailblazers finish the season with a record of 14-12.

Berkshire Running Sets Full Year of Charity Runs

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Berkshire Running Foundation has released the 2024 Race Calendar for the local nonprofit with several new events scheduled throughout the county.   Following its first official year operating as a nonprofit entity in 2023, the 501c3 organization, which has a mission of advancing and expanding on the positive impact the running community has on the neighborhoods we live, produced, and directed eight events in 2023. Softball, Baseball Winter Vacation Camps Offered

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Infield Berkshire Baseball Academy is offering winter vacation day camps for baseball and softball players aged 8 to 12.   The baseball camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 19 and 20. The softball camp is 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 21 and 22.   The cost is $50 per day.   The camp will focus on basic offense and defense skills. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Eathan Joseph had a double-double Wednesday for the Eagle Hill basketball team in a 60-45 win over Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter.   Joseph scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked a couple of shots for Eagle Hill, which used a 26-6 third quarter to break open a five-point game.   The Wolf Pack got 17 points and 10 rebounds from Samseedy Touray and 15 points from Jsaun Griffin.   Touray scored four straight points late in the first quarter to give the hosts a 13-8 lead before Eagle Hill scored on back-to-back possessions to cut it to a one-point game at the end of the period.   Eagle Hill started the second quarter on an 8-0 run that

Gittens' 31 Lead MCLA in Narrow Road Win

Carpenter Breaks School Assist Record at Framingham State

Framingham State senior point guard Gwendolyn Carpenter last month broke the all time assist record at the school.   Her 466th career assist came in a win over Curry College on Dec. 9, breaking a 5-year-old school record.   Carpenter was averaging more than seven assists per game going into Wednesday's home game against Westfield State. She also led the Rams (11-1) in minutes played, averaging 36.8 minutes per contest and had scored 9.4 points per game.   Carpenter is no stranger to breaking records.
