NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Megan Richardson of Adams wrapped up two year-ending honors Tuesday as the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts celebrated its 2019-20 student-athletes.

Richardson, a graduate of Hoosac Valley High School and an MCLA senior, was recognized in a Twitter poll for recording the Best Moment of the Year and Best Fall Moment.

For entire year, the top moment was Richardson's shutout in goal for MCLA's women's soccer team on senior day.

That afternoon against Framingham State, Richardson made 15 saves to preserve a 1-0 win, just the third of the season for the Trailblazers.

Richardson finished her career at MCLA with 596 saves.

She also was honored on Tuesday with the team's best fall moment for earning her second Defensive Player of the Year award in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

For that award, she tied with MCLA freshman McKenna Clark, who was named co-Rookie of the Year in the North Atlantic Conference. Each accomplishment earned 39 percent of the vote in the online poll.

In the Moment of the Year award, Richardson's Senior Day performance earned 44 percent of the vote, beating out three other nominees.

In second place was a game-winning shot by Taconic High graduate Quentin Gittens, who helped the MCLA men's basketball team to a 6-0 start in the MASCAC by securing an 82-81 win over Westfield State.

MCLA's year end celebration was held online for the first time in a  year when the college's spring season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We wish that we could have all gathered together to celebrate your hard work from the past year," MCLA Athletic Director Laura Mooney said in a videotaped message. "But, as we know, these are unprecedented times, and everyone's safety and well-being is of the utmost importance."
