The Pittsfield Babe Ruth 15-year-old All-Stars Tuesday swept Westfield in a best-of-three series to claim the Western Massachusetts State Championship.

In the first game, Damon Pause struck out seven in a complete-game, 7-3 win.

Pittsfield built a seven-run lead before Westfield rallied for three in the bottom of the seventh.

Owen Salvatore got the scoring started with a two-run single in the third to bring home Nick Brindle and Pause.

In the sixth, Antonio Scalise led off with a single, Owen Salvatore doubled and Cam Sime drew a walk to load the bases. With two out, Tommy Mullin drove in a pair of runs to give his team a 4-0 lead.

Pittsfield tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh, when Scalise and Salvatore each had an RBI single.

Pittsfield made short work of it in Game 2, earning a 10-0, five-inning win.

Sime got the win on the hill, striking out five and allowing just one hit and a pair of walks.

Christian Salzarulo doubld in a two-run second inning to get the scoring started.

In the fourth, Keegan Crouse drove in a run.

And in the bottom of the fifth, Sime, Mullin, Ben Cornish, Walker Abdallah, Brindle and Pause each had a hit in a seven-run, game-ending rally.

Pittsfield moves on to the 15-year-old New England Regional in Trumbull, Conn., July 23-28. Two years ago, the last time there was a Babe Ruth tournament, the Pittsfield 13-year-olds won the regional title to advance to the World Series.
